Illawarra Sports High is excited to announce the inauguration of a formal partnership between Hockey NSW and the introduction of the Talented Hockey Program in 2019, the program will be open to boys and girls across all ages.
In a first for the region, the link with Hockey NSW will provide young players in the Illawarra with additional training during school hours to further individual player development, fitness and skill acquisition.
Amy Child, Director of Sport at Illawarra Sports High said that, “We are working towards being the school based High Performance Centre for the development of aspiring young hockey athletes in the Illawarra and South Coast region.”
Young athletes involved in the Talented Hockey Program based at Illawarra Sports High, will be supported through their education while also having access to the highest quality coaches and training sessions to further their hockey development. Casey Sablowski, Hockeyroo and 3 time Olympian and Paul Schofield, Regional Coaching Coordinator will be on board as Program Coaches in 2019.
Illawarra Sports High joins Hockey NSW’s network of Hockey Schools; the other three being Endeavour Sports High, Hunter Sports High and Westfields Sports High.
